During my undergraduate career at Huxley College of the Environment, I was one of the student organizers who demanded an Environmental Justice (EJ) minor within the college. As a collective we envisioned a college that views environmental science and studies through and environmental justice lens. As students we held meetings, speaker series, and student-spaces for the EJ curriculum to be student-led and prioritize marginalize voices within the institution. In 2019, the first Environmental Justice minor at Western Washington University and Huxley College of the Environment was approved and became available in Fall of 2019. Below is a timeline I created for a conference that highlights the different critical steps we took for establishing the minor.
